Welcome to the Business English Meetings Course!
Believe it or not – 11 million meetings are held around the world each day. Business English students often worry about meetings in English. They can’t understand or contribute to the meeting.
So, when you’re sitting around a crowded table at work, listening and wondering what to say, there are so many others in the same position.
Meetings can be overwhelming. Harvard Business Review stated in their article ‘Stop the Meeting Madness’ that one employee couldn’t ‘get their head above water to breathe during the meeting’ – a phrase that means they felt like they were drowning in a sea of other voices.
There simply was no space for them to communicate and express themselves.
We hear this from students all the time. That’s why we created this course.
By the end of this course, I want you to take away three skills: how to make yourself heard, how to be active and how to be prepared in meetings. You will learn this through a variety of methods – including business vocabulary, grammar structures, phrasal verbs and TED Talks.
At Intrepid English we believe in sharing our ideas and collaborating. Our meetings allow us to come together as a team, to harness each person’s talent and to make ourselves known. In the Meetings Course, I will share our ethos and knowledge to better prepare you for future business meetings in English.
Be sure to also check out our other Business English Skill Set courses which will help you with all areas of business – from small talk to writing emails and learning how to negotiate and give presentations, and more. You will also find an excellent introductory lesson about meetings over at the Business English Basics course.
Now, let’s get started.
